If you make minimum wage, you no doubt know you’ll be getting a raise to $16.55 per hour in October. If you’re a student working 28 hours per week or less, it’s $15.60.
Labour Minister Monte McNaughton says the boost will go a long way toward helping people with the cost of living.
But labour advocates and critics have said Ontario’s minimum wage should be higher — the Ontario Living Wage Network saying a living wage in our region, defined as Eastern Ontario in their books, is $19.05.
The opposition NDP says the issue needs another look at Queen’s Park.
