After a hard-fought battle, the Napanee Raiders season has come to an end.
It was a hot first period for Reid Lambert, who scored twice for the Raiders, answering both Port Hope goals for a 2-2 score at the end of the first. Marshal McFarland scored in the second for a 3-2 Raiders lead. The Panthers scored three more goals to solidify their lead at 5-3 to end the period. Port Hope scored early in the first, with Napanee’s Ryan Kidd scoring to once again bring the game within two goals. Cole Campbell scored one last goal for the Raiders, for a 6-5 final.
The Napanee Raiders ended the regular season in top spot of the East Tod Division standings with a 35-5-1 record and 71 points.
It was a great final season for their four over agers Payton Gauthier, Bailey Maracle, Noah Westwater and Soren Zamuner. Napanee Raiders shared on twitter that these guys have, “meant the world to our program.”
Port Hope will be moving on to play either the Amherstview Jets or Picton Pirates in the East Tod Division Finals.
In that other East Tod Division Semifinal match up, the Picton Pirates beat the Amherstview Jets 4-3 in overtime tonight to take a 3-2 series lead. Game six goes Saturday, April 1st in Picton.
