This is Fraud Prevention Month across Ontario and the OPP is working to make sure people don’t get scammed.
Constable Joe Tereschuk tells us it doesn’t matter if its the so-called grandparent scam, someone claiming to be from your bank, or revenue Canada, your response should be the same every time.
The constable adds that scammers continue to evolve their approaches, pointing to the so-called Nigerian Prince scam as an example.
He also says there’s a certain group they like to prey upon.
He adds they sound convincing, and their high pressure tactics, often late at night all weigh-in to whether a victim gives in.
