A big and exciting announcement for young musicians in the Greater Napanee community! Thanks to the Atura Community Development Fund, Harmony Lounge & Music Club has received $25,000.
myFM spoke with Michelle Hauser, Program Coordinator for the Harmony Lounge & Music Club, who told us what this felt like.
Harmony Lounge & Music Club is a not-for-profit community program that began in September 2022. They are based in St. Mary Magdalene Anglican Church in Napanee, where they offer music lessons. They offer vocals, guitar, percussion, as well as a rock band program.
myFM spoke with student mentor Ethan, who told us more about the rock band program.
The Atura Community Development Fund is funding three core areas, including their group classes that are led by professional teachers from within the community, it’s funding an innovative student internship program for senior music students like Ethan who teach entry level programs, and it’s going towards some much needed equipment like new keyboards and a new digital drum kit just to name a few.
The Funding is also allowing them to offer their rock band program throughout March Break.
On February 24th they will be hosting Youth Gonna Rock in their new performance space in the church hall. The show will feature two bands performing with other local artists. Admission is pay what you can.
