Local police are warning the public about blank image phishing scams.
Most email providers have security filters that check emails for malicious links or attachments. Unfortunately, cybercriminals can take advantage of this trust by using blank image phishing to bypass security filters.
This scam sees a fake email that appears to be from DocuSign, asking you to review and sign a document.
It is a fake document with a malicious code, that if downloaded, the code will redirect you to a malicious website that will prompt you to enter sensitive information. If you enter this information, it will be sent directly to the cybercriminals, who can use it for their own purposes.
To stay safe, always think before you download an attachment, and never click a link or download an attachment that you aren’t expecting.
