The Napanee Raiders will be looking to see how they can improve over the next few days after splitting their pair of games this weekend.
Friday, January 20th, the Raiders hosted the Campbellford Rebels at the Strathcona Paper Centre. Scoring opened fast and early, with Ben Carter coring within the first 27 seconds for a 1-0 Raiders lead. Campbellford then tied the game to end the period 1-1. In the second period Napanee took the lead with goals by Cameron Krupa and Ben White, for a 3-1 score. Ben White then scored his second of the night early in the third period. The Rebels then scored their second of the night, to bring the teams within two goals. A goal by Blake Aylesworth solidified the Raiders win at 5-2.
Saturday, January 21st, the Raiders made the trip to Frankford to play the Huskies. Frankford took a 2-0 lead early in the first period. Goals by Christos Chronis and Connor Brooks tied the game at 2-2. Frankford scored one more to take the lead over Napanee to start the second period. Napanee rallied back with goals by Maverick Labrie and Marshal McFarland to edge ahead and take a 4-3 lead. Frankford scored once again to tie the game to end the period. It was then a goalless third period for the Raiders. Frankford scored two more goals to win 6-4 at home.
The Napanee Raiders remain atop the East Tod Division standings with a 27-4-1 record and 55 points. In second place is the Jets who have 40 points and third place Frankford with 31.
The Raiders return to action Friday, January 27th, when they will be hosting the Amherstview Jets at the SPC. Puck drop is 7:30pm. Then on Saturday, January 28th, the Raiders will travel to port Hope to play the Panthers. Puck drop is 7:30pm.
