The Napanee Raiders split a pair of games to start the new year.
Thursday, January 5th the Raiders were in Picton to play the Pirates. It was a very one sided game, seeing three goals throughout the game for the Raiders by Adam Nuttall, Christos Chonis, and Blake Aylesworth for a 3-0 win.
Friday, January 6th the Raiders hosted the Frankford Huskies at the Strathcona Paper Centre. Frankford opened scoring two goals, which Napanee quickly answered back with two of their own by Cole Campbell and Cameron Krupa for a 2-2 score to end the first period. Following a scoreless second period, Frankford scored within the first 18 seconds of the third period to take the lead. With less than one minutes remaining Napanee’s Ben White scored their third goal of the night. Then with 20 seconds left in regulation, Frankford scored one last goal to take the lead to beat the Raiders 4-3.
The Napanee Raiders remain atop the East Tod Division standings with a 24-3 record and 48 points. In second place is the Jets who have 35 points and third place Frankford with 27.
The Raiders return to action Tuesday, January 10th, when they will be in Campbellford to play the Rebels. Puck drop is 7:30pm. Then on the weekend Napanee will host Post Hope on Friday, January 13th, and travel to Amherstview on Sunday, January 15th
