The Winter storm is headed our direction and Environment Canada has now issued a Winter Storm Watch and a Rainfall warning for Greater Napanee and the surrounding area. Rainfall amounts are expected at around 20-30 millimeters starting this eveing through noon on Friday. Some areas could see wind gusts of 100 to 120 km/h which could develop Friday afternoon and into Saturday, causing blizzard like conditions and around 5 to 15 centimeters of snow. Rain is expected for the area tonight with temperatures plummeting on Friday which could lead to flash freezing. You’re asked to avoid all travel if possible, or adjust your travel plans.
Visibility may be suddenly reduced at times in heavy snow. Surfaces such as highways, roads, walkways and parking lots may become icy and slippery. Public Safety Canada encourages everyone to make an emergency plan and get an emergency kit with drinking water, food, medicine, a first-aid kit and a flashlight.
