Ahead of the significant winter storm forecast to pass through the region, Cataraqui Conservation has issued a Water Safety Statement.
Rain and snow are expected for the region between Thursday and Saturday with the total amounts and form of precipitation still uncertain.
With the ground already frozen, officials are expecting high runoff into lakes and streams, especially where there is minimal snowpack to absorb rainfall.
Cataraqui Conservation is urging caution around all dams and fast-flowing watercourses. A deterioration of ice conditions is also expected.
This Watershed Conditions Statement will remain in effect until Wednesday, January 4, 2023, at 11:59 PM.
