Excitement is building for this year’s Festival of Lights in Belleville.
myFM spoke with Lighting Display & Gateway Signage Committee Chair Councillor Sean Kelly, who told us when the festival is starting.
The display began in 1959 by the Foster Family, in memory of their son and a friend who died in a car accident the year before on Christmas Eve. Over the years, this “Foster Family” display has grown and evolved, now being operated by the City of Belleville, who have skillfully restored in an effort to keep the history and spirit of the original display alive.
Launch night November 18th will feature music by Turpin’s Trail from Kingston. Special guests include Sparky the Fire Dog, Santa and Mrs. Claus, Cindy Lou Who and the Grinch.
The lights will then be on for all to enjoy until the new year.
