Greater Napanee Pride is hosting an all-candidate event ahead of the municipal election, so 2SLGBTQIA+ community members can speak to their candidates about the issues faced by the community. The event will be taking place Tuesday, October 18th beginning at 6pm at the Napanee Lion’s Hall.
myFM spoke with Nina Irvine, Napanee Pride’s Communications Officer, who says it’s important for the whole community to know that they’re here year round. They’re not just here during Pride month to party, but that they’re here to be a platform not only for themselves, but also a vehicle for communication between the queer community and the politicians.
Irvine says they want to make sure they have a chance to ask the questions everyone wants to know about. Anyone with a question for the candidates can submit them in advance.
Greater Napanee Pride are hopeful they will be able to live stream the event to their Facebook page. For information or to submit a question you can visit their Facebook page.
