The Napanee Raiders have had a very busy and successful few days, having played and won three games in three days.
Thursday night the Raiders took their first trip of the year to Picton to play the Pirates. Napanee’s Noah Westwater had the loan goal in the first period making it a 1-0 lead for the Raiders. The second period saw three goals for the Pirates and one from Nicholas Goosney for a 3-2 advantage for the Pirates to end the second period. Napanee then had four unanswered goals in the third period from Ben White, Beckett Palmer-Stephen, Ben Carter and Maverick Labrie for a 6-3 win.
Friday night Napanee hosted the Port Hope Panthers at the Strathcona Paper Centre. Port Hope scored one goal during the first period making it a 1-0 game. Napanee wasn’t able to tie the score until a goal 24 seconds into the third period by Palmer-Stephen. The game was then won for the Raiders nearly 3 minutes into overtime with a goal by Blake Aylesworth. Napanee won 2-1.
Saturday the Raiders traveled to Frankford to play the Huskies. The Huskies opened the scoring roughly 1:30 into the game to which Napanee answered with three goals within about two minutes of each other from Carter and Aylesworth. Frankford got one last goal to end the period with a 3-2 score for Napanee. Cameron Krupa got the first goal of the second period for the Raiders making it a 4-2 game. Frankford answered that goal roughly 30 seconds later. Napanee then responded with four more goals the end the period from Jakob Dacosta, Adam Nuttall, Christos Chronis, and a hat trick for Ben Carter. Napanee then solidified their win with two goals in the third period from Cameron Krupa and Cole Campbell. Napanee won 10-3 over the Huskies, improving their record to 6-0 so far this season.
The Raiders now have a few days off before their next game on Friday, October 7th when they’ll host the Amherstview Jets at the SPC. Puck drop at 7:30.
