Cybercriminals are now tricking their victims into calling them directly. Here’s what local police say to look out for.
You may receive an email saying you’ve signed up for a subscription with automatic payments. There will be a phone number attached to call if you have any questions. When you call, the cybercriminals will want to remote access you computer to cancel, when they will really be changing your permissions so they can access your computer later.
To stay safe online Kingston police recommend you think before you click, never call a phone number provided in a suspicious email, and never grant remote desktop access to any unverified agents or organizations.
