Lots of charges were laid by OPP in the east region over the Labour Day long weekend.
Based on preliminary figures, 2,381 charges were laid for speeding, seatbelts, distracted driving, impaired driving and more.
Nearly 2500 vehicles were stopped by officers in the east region.
The OPP say this year drivers have contributed to a significant increase in preventable roads deaths, having responded to 39 fatal collisions in 2022, with 48 lives lost.
Chief Superintendent Karl Thomas, OPP East Region Commander wanted to thank their members “who did a great job over the weekend, working to ensure that the highways are safe for all drivers and passengers.” He also wants to “thank those drivers who ensure they keep safety in mind as they travel our roads and highways.”
