The World Rowing Tour will be taking place this year in the Bay Of Quinte. The World Rowing Federation organizes world championships, but they also have a Rowing For All commission. The flagship event for the commission is a rowing tour that’s held once a year in one part of the world.
Peter Jepson spoke before council, and says the Bay of Quinte was originally suggested in 2019.
This tour will be bringing 50 participants from 12 countries to the Bay of Quinte. This week long rowing tour begins Sunday, September 11 at the west end of the Bay of Quinte. They will arrive at Hay Bay September 13th where they will stop for lunch at the Old Hay Bay Church.
Councillor Terry Richardson thinks this is a great opportunity for the community.
Council passed a motion to support, with staff input, and be able to put forward to the organization an answer for financial support. And to use all tools available, such as Naturally L&A, BOQ Marketing, and their own communications team to spread the word.
