The Deseronto Public Library has reopened like never before.
myFM spoke with Tara Mendez, Interim CEO, who told says the COVID-19 pandemic was a great learning opportunity for them They learned how to provide library services for everyone in the community in a new and different way.
The library did close for a whole, but Mendez says during the shutdown, they were busy redesigning the library.
Mendez says they are very excited about the reopening, which features a new layout to the library. The library also features new hours. They are open Monday, Wednesday and Thursday 9:30am to 6pm, on Tuesday they are open 9:30am to 8pm, and open Saturday 10am to 2pm.
Mendez says they are working above and beyond to support everyone in the community, above and beyond books, by now offering guitars! Anyone who may be interested in learning to play, may take out a guitar how you would a book.
The library also now has a code reader available to help diagnose those scary dashboard lights in your vehicle. And to keep your car in running condition, the library has a new automotive database with everything from recalls to tips on keeping your car in tip-top running order.
For March Break this week, they are offering programming every day. Mendez highlighted Thursday, where at 4pm, a well-known local artist will be in giving a lesson on the art of pour painting. And on Saturday the library is hosting a Build-A-Bear workshop.
