The Ontario government has announced the launch of Electric Vehicle chargers at ONroute locations across the province
myFM spoke with Minister Vic Fedeli, the Minister of Economic Development, Job Creation and Trade.
Fedeli went on to say the province is doing this because they have lowered the cost of doing business in Ontario by $7 Billion a year, and the auto manufacturers have stepped up and said Ontario is the place to be manufacturing again.
This project will see ONroute locations along highways 401 and 400 equipped with at least two EV chargers at each site, with busier sites equipped with more. Already, chargers are open in Napanee and Odessa.
The EV chargers will be available to all drivers on a pay-per-use basis and will serve all vehicle types.
Fedeli tells us about what the province is doing to increase EV production.
As well, the province is investing in the critical minerals in northern Ontario, making this the first time northern Ontario will be part of the entire auto sector.
