Lennox and Addington OPP laid multiple charges earlier this week following two separate incidents involving a car hitting a snow bank, and a car going in the ditch.
On February 21, 2022 at approximately 10:00 a.m., Lennox and Addington County OPP responded to a report of a vehicle in the ditch on County Road 11 in Greater Napanee. Officers responded to the scene and located the vehicle and driver.
As a result of the investigation, L&A County OPP arrested and charged the 26-year-old driver of Belleville, with:
- Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs – Criminal Code (CC) 320.14(1)(a)
- Possession of property obtained by crime over $5000 – in Canada – CC 354(1)(a)
The accused was released on an undertaking and is scheduled to appear in Court in Greater Napanee on April 26, 2022. The accused’s licence was suspended for 90 days and the vehicle was impounded for seven days.
Also on February 21, 2022 at approximately 5:00 a.m., L&A OPP responded to a report of a vehicle stuck in a snowbank on Fourth Street in Deseronto. Officers responded to the scene and located the vehicle and driver.
As a result of the investigation, L&A County OPP officers arrested and charged the 27-year-old driver of Napanee, with:
- Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs – Criminal Code (CC) 320.14(1)(a)
- Two Count of Failure to comply with undertaking – CC 145(1)(a)
- Unauthorized possession of a weapon – CC 91(2)
- Possession of a schedule I substance – cocaine – Controlled Drugs and Substances Act (CDSA) 4(1)
- Having care or control of a motor vehicle with open container of liquor – Liquor Licence and Control Act (LLCA) 42(1)(a)
- Driving while under suspension – Highway Traffic Act (HTA) 53(1)
The accused was released on an undertaking and is scheduled to appear in Court in Greater Napanee on March 15, 2022. The accused’s licence was suspended for 90 days and the vehicle was impounded for seven days.
