The Friends of the Napanee River are have an upcoming online event in as part of their Winter Speaker Series. This virtual event is being held on Tuesday, February 8 at 7:00 pm, with guest speaker Betty Plewes from Climate Legacy Canada.
myFM spoke with Plewes, who said a few years ago when the inter governmental panel on climate change came out, which said we were in crisis and if we wanted to reduce climate change to 1.5 degrees, that there are about three decades to do that. She says she was really struck by that.
A few weeks later she was at a meeting with former colleagues, where she said, “We should do something about climate change.” The group then began discussions and thought there are most likely people out there like them, retired, who are concerned but not quite sure what to do.
They then formed Climate Legacy, who’s purpose is to engage more seniors in climate action. Plewes says during the virtual event, this group will be discussed.
