Napanee Cab Inc are looking to increase their rates.
Ron Yeomans spoke before town council at this weeks meeting as to why this is.
Yeomans explains the price of insurance goes up every year, and that recently gas prices reached $1.45/L, and come come down since that.
During the meeting Councillor Terry Richardson asked Yeomans on his opinion of a meter in the cabs.
Yeomans says he is personally opposed to meters. He explains they currently have a $4 stop charge, whether you’re stopped for 2 minutes or 5, with a meter it would keep running curing that stop.
Greater Napanee Council will consider a by-law amendment to increase taxi rates and fares at the Regular Session of Council to be held on Tuesday, January 11, 2022. This meeting will be held virtually beginning at 7:00 p.m. and will be live streamed via the Town’s YouTube channel. If approved, the proposed increases will take effect on January 12, 2022.
