Hastings – Lennox and Addington has a newly elected member of parliament. Conservative Shelby Kramp-Neuman was named MP in the 44th Federal election.
myFM caught up with Kramp-Neuman the morning after a late election night.
She went on to say she would like to start by acknowledging and congratulating the other candidates for running a very tough but civil campaign. She says she looks forward to working with all stake holders in the riding.
It was a late night of watching results come in. It was first projected Kramp-Neuman was the winner around midnight. She spoke with us her first goals and the plan for today.
Kramp-Neuman says after knocking on doors, she learned some specific priorities for the riding. Stable and predictable infrastructure funding as well as the broadband internet infrastructure are among the top in H-L&A.
Kramp-Neuman is following in the steps of her father, current member of provincial parliament, Daryl Kramp, who has also previously served as the riding’s MP.
Kramp-Neuman accounted for 45.5% of the votes, with Liberal Mike Bossio right behind with 33.9%. NDP Matilda DeBues came third with 11.3%, ahead of PPC James Babcock who had 5.9% of the votes. Reg Wilson of the Green party accounted for 1.8% of the votes, followed by independent Jennifer Sloan with 1.6%.
Incumbent Derek Sloan dropped out of the race in H-L&A to run as an independent in Alberta’s Banff-Airdie riding, receiving 2.4% of the votes, falling to Incumbent Conservative Blake Richards, who claimed 57%.
