Many people in Hastings-Lennox and Addington, and across the country, took advantage of the advance polls for the upcoming federal election.
Across Canada, there was an increase in those who took advantage of the advance polls, up 18.5% from the last federal elections in 2019.
In H-L&A, just shy of 13,500 voters hit the advance polls.
myFM spoke with Diane Benson, Media Relations with Elections Canada, about the data from these polls.
Come elections day, September 20, 2021, there are many COVID-19 regulations in place. When you go in to vote, there will only be one person behind the table, and a screen between you and that person.
Benson says you do not need to bring your election card you received in the mail, but it is encouraged to help move you through the line quicker, so they do not have to look you up. You are to also bring I.D. that proves you live in the area. Masks are also mandatory while voting. If needed, Elections Canada will have masks on hand should anyone need one.
Elections Canada are also looking for any individuals who may be interested in working a polling station on the day of. Benson says they are hiring and training individuals right up until election day.
Voters across Canada are set to hit the polls September 20, 2021.
