Dr. Moore said that the region has climbed to 85 active cases of COVID-19 as of Sunday morning .
Variant of Concern cases on the rise in the province and in KFL&A. 50% of the samples across Ontario are testing positive for VOC. In KFL&A as of Sunday, 70% of the tests are coming back with VOC. Most likely being the B.1.1.7 variant, also known as the UK variant.
Moore is very concerned that that may be the dominant strain in our community, as it can spread more rapidly.
He went on to say that we all have a roll to play to decrease the risk of this virus and that the next several weeks will tell where we’re going to head in KFL&A.
