It’s up to individual pharmacies whether to accept COVID vaccination bookings from eligible candidates not from the Kingston Frontenac Lennox and Addington Health district.
CBC and the Whig Standard report pharmacies in some areas like Central Frontenac are taking most of their appointment bookings from the Ottawa area.
While priority is given to local bookings, pharmacists in smaller communities say there are too few eligible local residents to use up all of the vaccine they have.
Close to 50 pharmacies in the health unit area are dispensing the Astra-Zeneca shot to those age 60 to 64.
KFL&A public health says there is no rule against inoculation travel but the health unit discourages travel especially if you’re from or going to a region with a high rate of contagion infection.
