At least two public rallies have been held in the Frontenac region to protest further consolidation of school bus service.
Tri-Board Transportation is responsible for student transportation service in the Hastings Prince Edward District
School Board – the Limestone District School Board, and the Algonquin and Lakeshore Catholic District School Board.
A report in the Frontenac News says with new proposals for busing contracts being made now – almost 20 school bus companies in the region could go out of business. The report says the Tri-Board School Bus Operators Association has asked the area’s two MPPs to advocate for a fair process in the awarding of contracts for school transportation service.
The association says two or three large contractors are taking all of the business at the expense of smaller operators.
