The Napanee District Curling Club received a welcome injection of cash. Greater Kingston Curling (GKC) hosted the Brier earlier this year and Curling Canada shares proceeds from the event with host committees, which in this case included GKC. The club is an association of the five area curling clubs, including Napanee and District Curling Club (NDCC).
Linda Lott, president of GKC, stated that “These Brier proceeds come to our member clubs at a critical moment given that the pandemic is having a serious impact on the feasibility of curling clubs reopening. In the case of NDCC, we are so sorry to learn it will not be opening this season as a result of the pandemic. We hope these Brier proceeds will ensure that the club remains financially healthy so it can fully reopen in 2021.”
A formal presentation of the cheque took place at the NDCC, 178 York Street, Napanee on October 29. Pam Jordan (far left) and Ian Munro, NDCC representatives to GKC presented Heather Ramshaw (far right) with the $15,000 cheque.
