Police continue to investigate following the death of a 47 year-old woman in the County. On July 2, shortly before 5:00 a.m., officers with the Prince Edward County OPP responded to a report of a sudden death at a home on Mary Street in Picton. Hastings-Quinte Paramedic Service were already on the scene and a 47-year-old female had been pronounced deceased. The victim has been identified as Leanne Champion of Picton. A post-mortem examination has been performed, but further testing will be conducted by Ontario Forensic Pathology Services and Office of the Chief Coroner for Ontario.
As a result of the ongoing investigation a search warrant was executed in the City of Belleville on July 2, with the assistance of the Belleville Police Service. Two individuals have been arrested and charged. 40 year-old, Lisa Bennett of Belleville, has been charged with trafficking in a schedule 1 substance. The accused remains in custody until an appearance before the Court today.
31 year-old, Kody Aspeck of Belleville, has been charged with trafficking in a schedule 1 substance and fail to comply with a Probation Order. The accused remains in custody until an appearance before the Court tomorrow.
As a result of the ongoing investigation, a search warrant was executed in Quinte West on Friday, involving members of the OPP Emergency Response Team, OPP Canine Unit and OPP Community Street Crime Unit with the assistance of the Belleville Police Service. One individual was arrested. 36 year-old, Krzysztof Wolf of Quinte West, has been charged with trafficking in a schedule 1 substance. The accused remains in custody until an appearance before the Court today.
The investigation continues with members of the Prince Edward County OPP Crime Unit, Community Street Crime Unit, and East Region Forensic Identification Services Unit, under the direction of the OPP Criminal Investigation Branch.
