Community Builders is brought to you by Timʼs Truck and Equipment Services.
Bill Pollard and his wife Barb have always given back to the community. Bill believes when it comes to the community, giving back is a two-way street. He says that the community gives to us, so we must support the area we live in.
Bill was born here and says he has always found employment in the community, noting that he feels the community has always been good to him.
When asked what he is most proud of, Bill says his work with ARC (Adult Rehabilitation Centre) and people with developmental challenges. He says he is extremely proud of the services that are now available in the region and notes that when he first started working in the field, there really was not much. Bill began working with people in the 1960ʼs. He says ARC was opened in 1969 and helped approximately 4 people but the need increased and from there a planning board was formed and a new building was opened in 1977. As placement requests continued a new addition was constructed in 1981.
ARC which is now known as Community Living Lennox and Addington now provides support to more than 100 individuals in the region.
