The man who created a roller rink in Napanee says the response from local residents has been great so far. On Fridays and Saturdays, Jay Bradley transforms the old Napanee arena on York Street into a roller skating rink. complete with lights and music. Bradley says he practically lived at the popular Studio 801 in Kingston when he was a kid and he wanted modern children to get to experience something similar. He says it’s a bonus for parents too.
The building is owned by the Lennox and Addington Agricultural society but is mostly vacant during the winter. Bradley’s roller rink operates Friday nights and Saturday, though this week he’s hosting a daytime event Friday from 1-4pm as it’s a PA day. You can rent the roller skates at the site. There is a charitable component to the project. Saturday daytime is Support Saturdays, when 50 percent of the proceeds support local charities.
