WORK BEGINS ON WIND TURBINE PROJECT IN PEC

W-P-D Canada has begun work on their proposed 27-turbine wind project in Prince Edward County. The company began clearing vegetation this week in areas other than those identified as Blandings turtle spring foraging habitat. The Alliance for the Protection of Prince Edward County received a stay last year from the Environmental Review Tribunal, preventing any site preparation in the location where the turtles are present. W-P-D has requested that the stay be lifted. The ERT says the clearing won't be investigated unless they receive a complaint.
